*Job Overview/ Purpose of the Role
Lead technical engineering team to manage supplier technical development and engineering activities located in Asia Pacific region for Shocks & Struts product segments, for global project safe launch, supplier process upgrade and excellence, and support quality issue solving. Position functions will include Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Quality, Vendor Quality, and Project Management.
*Key Responsibilities
· Responsibilities include hiring, departmental goal setting, departmental expense, workload prioritization, appropriation request responsibility, local procedural setting, and maintenance. Support global engineering, marketing, purchasing, quality, and manufacturing team requirements.
· Executes strategies and projects with suppliers to ensure new suppliers understand and achieve required technical specifications and drive significant performance improvements regularly.
· Contribute to global engineering team to provide innovative products that meet the needs for global markets in which they are targeted to be distributed.
· Works with business units and sites on the execution of agreed cost improvement programs.
· Technical support to quality to promote customer’s satisfaction and brand reputation.
*Qualifications (Education/ Experience/ Key Competencies)
· Experience: A minimum of 8 years’ experience in the Automotive Chassis Product Development field, and more than 3 years’ people management role. With Shocks & Struts product development experience is a plus.
· Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Vehicle Engineering or related field.
· High level of proficiency in technical English.
· Ability to vocally lead multi-discipline meetings with NA engineering teams, suppliers, product management and purchasing.
· Strong leadership in managing technical teams.
· Western style of multiple organizational level communications.
· Not afraid to challenge (with data) local or NA teams when in disagreement.
· Strong project management skills, preferably complex projects
· Proficient in technical problem-solving skills.
· Experience in Six Sigma Transactional Process Design/Improvement Methodology preferred.
· Knowledgeable of PPAP, APQP, SPC, FMEA, 8D, Control Plan formation and a variety of manufacturing processes.
· Application of material science and metallurgy principles in manufacturing environments
· Multi-discipline interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
Others (optional – if applicable e.g. travel frequency)
· Multi-continental late night or early morning conference calls will be a standard part of this position.
· Domestic travel will be extensive at times and international travel may be required as well.
