Job Summary:


We are seeking an experienced and innovative Data Scientist with 3+ years of hands-on experience to join our dynamic team.

As a Data Analyst specialising in Catastrophe Data Management, you will be responsible for designing the structure & managing the catastrophe data. Your role will involve providing regular datasets to Overseas General (COG) Catastrophe Management as well as Underwriting teams. You will also be involved in supporting multiple ad-hoc projects requiring a keen attention to detail and the ability to prepare/interpret and communicate results in an effective manner.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical skills (knowledge of SQL is essential), a strong understanding of data management principles, strong commitment to professional growth and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.


Key Responsibilities:


Designing and implementing data extraction processes to gather relevant catastrophe data from various sources.
Ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and reliability of data extraction processes.
Develop and implement data collection strategies, ensuring the consistent capture and storage of relevant catastrophe data.
Collaborating with internal stakeholders to understand data requirements for reporting and analysis.
Support the analysis of catastrophe data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform risk assessment and decision-making processes.
Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in catastrophe data management to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the organisation.
Opportunities for continuous learning and professional development in Catastrophe Management, earthquake, typhoon, and flood modelling will be provided, including access to training, workshops, external resources, and internal knowledge sharing.


Requirements:


Bachelor's degree in a numerical/scientific field (e.g., Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, etc.). Advanced degree preferred.

Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory.

Proven experience in data analysis and management, preferably in the insurance or catastrophe risk industry (industry experience is not mandatory).

Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Excel).

Experience with data visualisation tools and/or geospatial analytics tools (e.g. QGIS, ArcGIS) would be beneficial and will further enhance the candidate's ability to analyse and visualize catastrophe data, understand spatial patterns and relationships, and provide valuable insights for risk assessment and decision-making processes.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and draw meaningful insights.

Knowledge of catastrophe models (e.g. Moody’s RMS, AIR) and familiarity with catastrophe data sources is desirable.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Detail-oriented with exceptional organisational and time management abilities to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a
cross-functional environment.
